Outfitting Your Patio for Spring

Trend Alert: 3 Living Room Trends To Consider In 2020

by Anne Wells

The best thing for designers about a new year is seeing all of the new interior design trends come to life. If you are planning on revamping your living room this next year then there are definitely some trends that you will want to consider to make sure that it's trendy, inviting, and that you don't have to update it for quite some time.

Monochromatic Paint

Ditch the accent wall in your living room and go with monochromatic paint instead. If you are going to have millwork put in your living room, you may be tempted to break it up with different colors, but a big trend is painting everything (including the ceiling) the same color. This will create the ultimate moody and chic vibe that will invite everyone who comes over to your house. If you don't want to go bold with a paint color, then consider doing something still fairly neutral like a rich beige or a dark grey.

Colorful Couches

If you are going with a neutral colored paint and rug, then why not go all in with a unique colorful couch? Couches covered in fabrics like velvet look beautiful in a variety of colors including light pink, emerald green, navy blue, mustard yellow, or even a burnt orange. When choosing a colorful couch, consult a designer regarding the quality and texture of the fabric, because you want it to look high end and not cheap. If you don't want your couch to be a bright color, then consider getting side chairs that are one of these colors instead.

Statement Art Pieces

Another thing that is really trending this year (and for good reason) is statement art pieces. If you don't plan on having a television in your living room, then hang something like a beautiful statement painting above your mantel instead. Statements paintings don't necessarily have to be bring in color either but they do need to spark some sort of reaction and emotion every time that you see them. When shopping for statement art pieces, consult with local artists and see if you contract some paintings from them.

For most home owners, their living room is the first thing that people see when they walk into the home. To make sure that you create a living room that is warm, exciting, chic, and welcoming, keep these three fun trends in mind going into the new year.
